Know Before You Go

Travelers visiting South Africa should ensure their passports have a minimum of six months’ validity from the date of travel and at least two blank pages for immigration stamps. A tourist visa may be required depending on your nationality, so it's important to verify the latest visa regulations before departure. South Africa drives on the left side of the road, and power sockets use a unique plug type (Type M), so carrying a universal adapter is recommended. The country enjoys varied climates, so pack appropriate clothing based on the season and region. It's advisable to drink bottled water, carry travel insurance, and remain vigilant in public spaces. While English is widely spoken, learning a few local phrases can enhance your cultural experience.
