Travelers are advised to carry valid passports with a minimum of 6 months’ validity from the date of return. South Africa requires a tourist visa for most foreign nationals—please ensure you check your country’s visa regulations and apply well in advance. It’s recommended to carry light cotton clothing for the day and a jacket or shawl for cooler evenings, especially during the safari portion of the tour. Avoid carrying expensive valuables unless necessary, and always follow safety guidelines shared by your tour guide. A moderate level of physical fitness is recommended for sightseeing and optional activities.
Local currency is the South African Rand (ZAR), and credit/debit cards are widely accepted. English is spoken throughout the country, making communication convenient. Be mindful of water usage, tipping norms (10-15% is standard), and local customs, especially in cultural villages or tribal regions. It’s advisable to carry insect repellent for safaris and stay hydrated during travel.
