Overview
Meghalaya, state of India, located in the northeastern part of the country. It is bounded by the Indian state of Assam to the north and northeast and by Bangladesh to the south and southwest. The state capital is the hill town of Shillong, located in east-central Meghalaya.
- Meghalaya was formed by carving out two districts from the state of Assam: the United Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills, and the Garo Hills.
Itinerary
A warm welcome at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati and board the vehicle for transfer to Shillong “Scotland of the East”. Enroute enjoy the splendid view of Mountains and Valleys, take short breaks for Selfies and Tea & Snacks from local shops. Also visit UMIAM LAKE (also known as Barapani Lake, A tranquil lake at the entrance of Shillong town, a place for watery adventures and relaxing boat rides, a treasure for bird watchers and those who enjoy dramatic scenery) and LUM NEHRU PARK (a must-visit for bird lovers. Apart from being a popular picnic spot, the park is known for its orchid house, aviary and sprawling lawns). Upon arrival at Shillong check in to your hotel.

After breakfast at the hotel, check out and set out to visit DAWKI (is a border town between India and Bangladesh, located graciously in the Jaintia Hills of the north eastern state of Meghalaya) visit UMNGOT RIVER (Boats glide along the crystal-clear river which mirrors the sky, seemingly defying the laws of gravity to float on air) DAWKI BRIDGE (suspension bridge built by British in 1932), TAMABIL BORDER (Indo – Bangladesh border road). Later move on to MAWLYNNONG VILLAGE (Cleanest village in Asia) and visit RIWAI LIVING ROOT BRIDGE (It stands in the midst of greenery with a stream flowing right under it) and BALANCING ROCK (a strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock). Drive back to the hotel.

After Breakfast at the hotel, set out on a day visit to Cherrapunjee and visit NOHSNGITHIANG FALLS (also known as the Seven Sisters Waterfalls or Mawsmai Falls, is a seven-segmented waterfall located south of Mawsmai village), MAWSMAI CAVES (is a beautiful limestone cave. It is most popular historical cave and among the best places to experience) KREM MAWMLUH (is considered to be the fourth longest cave in India. Known for the stalagmite formation and other rock formations. One can find a pool inside the cave, which is formed as an outcome of five different rivers) KREM MAWMLUH (is considered to be the fourth longest cave in India. Nohkalikai means ‘Ka Likai’s Leap’ in the Khasi language). One can enjoy the evening at The Evening Club for Fine Dine, Drinks and Live Music. Drive back to the hotel.

After Breakfast at the hotel, set out on a city tour of Shillong and visit LADY HYDARI PARK (a Japanese style park), WARD’S LAKE (Enjoy boating and scenic beauty, closed on Tuesday). Later take the transfer to Kaziranga “home to the one horned Rinos”. Upon arrival check in to your hotel. Briefing on your next day tour by our Operations Team. Dinner at the hotel.

Early morning by 4.00 AM, get ready for Elephant Safari (an exhilarating experience to stroll in the tropical semi evergreen forest, rocky landscapes, and tall thickets grass). Later take the Jeep Safari (an open jeep in search of one horned rhinos, tigers, elephants, jackals, languor, deer and numerous species of birds). Return to hotel and enjoy the breakfast. Later set out to an excursion trip to Tezpur “Cultural capital of Assam” and visit MAHABHAIRABH TEMPLE (One of the biggest Shivling of Asia), AGNIGARH HILLS (developed with park and stairs to climb, on top of the hill one can view the bridge and the river Brahmaputra. One can enjoy sunset from this point), KALIA BHOMORA SETU (the bridge connects Tezpur with rest of the North east, one can just drive pass the bridge to enjoy the splendid view of Brahmaputra) BAMUNI HILLS (a serene beautiful hill adorned with old trees; ancient rock carvings, sculpted figurines on stones indicating existence of an ancient temple or a palace on this solitary hill). - Elephant Safari is allowed in 2 shifts (5.00AM – 6.00 AM) & (6.00 AM – 7.00 AM). However, the shift and the Safari itself is subject to availability as the permits are issued one day before your scheduled date.
- Jeep Safari is allowed in 2 shifts (one in the morning and one in the afternoon). However, Safari Zone and Safari shift is given as per subject to availability
After Breakfast check out from the hotel and take the departure transfer to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati for your Departure Flight.

If we were to do this trip, we chose a July slot that runs 8am. But the sky and crystal clear pickups up with some magical views of Lake Powell, Horseshoe Bend, and Antelope Canyon.
